which dive computer do you reccommend zeagle n2ition 2, n2ition 3, mares nemo excel?
i also found a suunto d4 so throw that in too.
Why those three? The Mares seems to be the odd man out in this comparison since the N2iTiON computers allow for gas switching during the dive (ie techie type diving) while the Mares appears to be a typical nitrox-capable recreational computer.
I’ve never used any of them so I’m not in a position to offer any solid advice, but I can say that most divers I know find the RGBM algorithm used by Suunto and Mares computers much too conservative for typical recreational diving, even on the least conservative setting. But the N2iTiONs use a modified ZH-L12 algorithm that is also supposed to be quite conservative, so it’s not clear if there would be an advantage either way. I personally don’t think I would buy any of them.
If you are dead-set on one of those three, it seems to me the deciding functional factor would be the gas-switching capabilities of the N2iTiON models. If you plan to do tech-type dives (either now or in the future) where you want a computer that can handle multiple gas mixtures then it seems like the N2iTiONs would be a better choice than the Mares. If you just want a recreational computer that you can use with a single air or nitrox mix then the N2iTiONs capabilities seem like overkill. Cost-wise though, if you can get an N2iTiON for about the same price as a Mares then it seems the N2iTiON would be a better value.
